A Feng Shui ‘Primer’
A Feng Shui ‘Primer’
5. The "Art of Placement" of objects within your environment to remind you of your various intentions will assist you in achieving your aims, starting on a subconscious level. The subconscious forms the foundation of your perception of life.
1. Recognize that the life force, or "Chi" flows through all of existence. Chi is the living substance of creation. Chi (Translates as "breath" or "energy") is the unifying force linking and flowing through everything in the universe. In Feng Shui, Chi is refined, circulated and channeled to enrich the lives and energy of the residents and occupants of Homes, Rooms, Offices, and other spaces.

Feng Shui is the name given to the ancient Chinese Art Of Placement. The literal translation from Chinese is “wind & water”. It is the practice of arranging your environment to enhance the quality of your life. Intentional living is the way to consciously participate in the creation of your life, and the practice of Feng Shui will augment your ability to extract support from the Life Force to create optimum balance and energetic enhancement from your environment. Acknowledgment is due here to the teaching of Louis Audet and Sarah Rossbach, both former students of Professor Lin Yun of The Tibetan Buddhist ‘Tantric Black Hat’ lineage of Feng Shui. You will benefit from the expert advice of a qualified Feng Shui practitioner, such as Louis, but you can get started now and begin to implement the common sense and useful tools of Feng Shui by absorbing and utilizing these basic suggestions. Refer also to the sections about: The BaGua, The 5 Feng Shui Elements , Basic Feng Shui ‘Cures’. and “Good Feng Shui”.
The following are 9 Basic Ideas that will serve as a brief introduction to this system:
2. Know that this pure force, as it flows down the ray of creation, differentiates itself into complementary opposites called Yin and Yang.
3. Yin is the feminine, yielding, receptive aspect, negative in polarity(-).
Yang is the masculine, active, affirming aspect, positive in polarity (+).
4. The spaces you live and work in serve as an external metaphor of your inner well-being and also for your physical body. Therefore, you create your environment as a place where the life force can flow freely through it, vivifying every area. There are firm injunctions against clutter and messiness, because it impedes and ‘confuses’ the flow of Chi.
6. The BaGua is a device that delineates the anatomy of the environment into 9 all-encompassing functions. One uses it to organize and map out any space that you wish to render as balanced and energized with Chi. The harmony of Yin and Yang gives the necessary equilibrium, through the incorporation of color, shape, symbol & substance.
7. Objects are placed with the objective of inviting Chi to flow to all the areas in your life. Choice of object, shapes and colors depends on which area of the Ba Gua it will be in, and the quality of energy required for its improvement.
8. Your Intention and Belief regarding these placements are the keys to its capacity or power to produce your desired effect.
9. Common Sense is the underlying key & awareness of your environment is a useful by-product of attention on the ‘art of placement’ of Feng Shui.
